Estate Trust Asset Recovery
Disclaimer: This is not legal advice. I am not a lawyer. Nothing I say should be taken as legal advice. I will laugh when you trip.
Now for a little housekeeping. About once a week I check some of my stats. Every single month multiple people are finding my blog by googling about estate trust asset recovery. Because I blogged about it once.
Here's what happened. You are owed money for something. In my case, it was car insurance that I canceled. You did not collect the money you were owed for whatever reason. The company that owed you the money somehow neglected to get it to you for whatever reason. That money then gets turned over to the state. In my case, the state was Florida. The state keeps lists of who is owed money, and how much they are owed.
Some companies (also known as law firms) acquire (buy? steal? probably buy) these lists. They then contact the people who are owed money and offer to get the money to them. That's the letter you're getting from a company or law firm that you don't recognize, saying it wants to give you money.
Legal? Yes. The catch? Yes, there is one. For this service, of getting your money from the state and getting it to you, this company or law firm is going to take a fee. A percentage of that money.
Legal? Yes.
I am cheap in that way though, so I decided to bypass the law firms (oh yes, more than one company or law firm can buy the same lists and more than one contacted me) and try to get my money myself. And I did. You can too.
You're welcome. This has not been legal advice. I am still not a lawyer. I look forward to you tripping, and welcome stories from you about people you saw trip.

I tend to drag my feet a lot so if there's a slight incline or crack on the sidewalk, I will trip - I won't fall all the way, just do a little scramble. ALL THE TIME.
You're welcome.
texas has a similr program. you can go on the state's website type in your name and poof! money! i've recovered some funds in the past that way, but nothing interesting has happened in the past few years, so no money mistakes. =(
good luck.
Since you listed the company name but failed to give completely accurate information, try this website for details on this process and security features.

Thanks! Forget "Estate Trust Asset Recovery," I just went to fltreasurehunt.org, which is run by the state of Florida, and filled out at form, sent some info to verify my ID, and now we'll see if I get my money without that firm taking 20%. Hope this helps others.
I visited the State site and it worked just perfect, I found my treasure :)
Thank you!
I found money on the State website but they wanted me to provide proof of an old address I lived at years ago. I don't keep old information like that. Maybe these private companies are worth the money if they can get it back for me.
Hey! Thanks a million for this blog! I was just trying to verify that the Estate Trust Asset Recovery was legal before I sent in a bunch of personal information, and I found out about fltreasurehunt.org from the post above.
Instead of getting $95 from Estate Trust, I am now getting $300 back from other stuff I didn't know about!
Thank you SO much for posting this topic!
Jon
I visited the State site and found my $$$$ as well !!!!
Thank you!
Thanks for supplying the website to fltreausurehunt.org. I received a notice from taht Estate Asset Recovery company as well and googled to make sure it was legit when I came across this blog. i had moved so I guess I forgot to follow up on some refunds for secruity systems, property insurance, etc. Not only am I getting the $480 that I was notified of, but I'm getting two other unclaimed refunds that will give me a check of over $600 that I didn't know was sitting out there.
Yogurt person, you are still helping us out here in blogspace. After checking out your info, I tried to process my claim straight through the government site. In fact, twice as much $$ was available there. Except that it was registered jointly to myself and my ex-spouse, and both signatures would have been required, in order to receive one check made out to both names. NOT an option. So I sent everything in to Estate Asset Recovery and waited patiently until this week, when my promosed check arrived from the state of Florida. THANK YOU!
Wow, that's great. Four and a half years later, and still useful! Glad you got your money without having to deal with your ex.
I came across this site as well while researching Estate Asset Recovery and saw that Kim posted a website fltreasurehunt.org that i put in the info and received the same info on money owed. To be honest I thought it was a scam, but i will provide the info the FL Treasure Hunt required and send in and see
Yogurt guy I went to FLTreasurehunt.gov filled out info thinking I was getting funds directly from gov. But no I get a form in mail from Estate
Trust Asset Recovery telling me they will deduct $$ to get my funds. Went black to FLTreasurehunt site and now my name doesn’t come up! WTH??
