Steve went to Paris with his lovely bride of 29 years, for a 3 week vacation. Day nine, the phone rings, my mom has died. No sleep, 11 hr plane ride (no sleep there), grief + jet lag, must-not-do-this-again. I think maybe I know how some hormonal women feel, laughing hysterically to sobbing hysterically in 30 seconds.
To mitigate the awfulness for everyone, she was almost 90, still drove (well), gardened, and walked to the ocean everyday. She was returning from her walk and had been talking to people and feeling fine right until she dropped dead.
I won't be offended if you read this and delete it. Actually I am hugely complimented that you even noticed or cared that I hadn't posted anything for a bit. (I have been lurking)
Why would I delete it? I asked, you answered. I'm so very sorry about your mom. Knowing what a full life someone had is small consolation for missing them.
I'm also sorry your vacation was interrupted. I hope it doesn't take too long for you to go back to Paris and have the vacation you were expecting to have.
Oh, Steve. My sympathies to you and your family. I, too, had missed your witty postings. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Your mother sounds like the kind of person I want to be at that age. Peace to you.
All my empathy, Steve. Can't have said it better than Green. So very, very sorry! Big hug to you from Mother Nature Father Time advises you to be easy on yourself and use what you need.

I blush therefore I am.
Thank you all.
How very sad for Steve :( I also wonder if he has ever made it back to Paris.
